South of England Schools Championships at maidenhead GC on Wednesday 2nd June.
Boys.
Mark Collins(Homewood) was second with a superb 2 under par total of 138(68.70), beaten by Liam Cox(Middlesex) 71,66. (His 66 was one outside the course record.)
Freddie Price(Hurstmere) 72,78 was 9th and they both qualified for the National Schools' Championships at John O' Gaunt GC on Monday 21st June.
Jake Spearpoint(Brockhill) (82,78)and Michael Puddy(Rochester Maths)(79,NR) had a bad day.
However, the Boys were second in the Boys' Team Championship to Oxfordshire.
The girls did much better-Nicole Hamilton(Townley GS) won with a total of 146, 2 over with a second round of 2 under, off 7 handicap, due to be 5 after a good week at Dartford and Maidenhead..Jerri Sewell(5) was third with 153(76,77), Sophie Daws((3) Marsh Academy) 5th on 156 (80,76) and Emily Royer(Sutton Valence)(10) 8th with 88,76 her second round being just 4 over,giving her a net 66 and a reduction of handicap from 10-9.
Hamilton,Sewell and Daws all qualified for the National Schools' Championship and won the Girls Team comfortably.
The 5 qualifying for the national Championships is a KSGA record.
Following his win in the Kent Schools' Championships and his second place in the South of England Championship, Mark Collins came 9th in the National Championship at John O' Gaunt,Bedfordshire and will play for the English Schools against the Scottish Schools at Fairhaven Golf Club on 13th September 2010. |
